Najla Guthrie, president and CEO, KGK Science Inc. has been hailed as a global leader and sought-after spokesperson in the nutraceutical trade. She is also a lobbyist for the advancement of policy changes in the supplement and cannabis industries.

Guthrie started KGK over 25 years ago with a couple of her colleagues, including her boss at the time while working at the Center for Human Nutrition.

“At the time, he thought that he was going to be the CEO of KGK. So, he came to me and asked me that and at that moment, I decided no. I needed to make a stand for myself and this was my company and my vision and I valued everything they brought to the table as partners, but that was how it was going to be and he said ‘okay,’ said Guthrie.

When it comes to climbing the corporate ladder, Guthrie said women have to take a stand for what they want: “Don't be afraid to ask for what you want and don't be afraid to take a chance.”

Looking back, Guthrie said it's been a great journey and it all comes down to the people. “I have learned so much along the way. I've got an amazing team at KGK that has brought me here. And, and it's all about the people you surround yourself with in your company, how you conduct yourself and how you treat them. I've been very blessed in that perspective.”
